According to Mr. Kheirollahis wife, he has started his hunger strike since 32 days ago and has stopped drinking water for the last few days. Rejaaee Shahr prison officials have transferred Mr. Kheirollahi to the quarantine section of the prison, even though last September another political prisoner, Valiollah Feiz Mahdavi, lost his life following a similar hunger strike and due to lack of attention by prison officials.
As the result of Mr. Kheirollahis deteriorating conditions, his wife is now asking for the attention and intervention of Human Rights group. Mr. Nasser Kheirollahi, an independent political prisoner, was arrested 3 years ago for alleged activities against the IRI security and contact with foreigners, and then sentences to 180 days in an isolated prison cell in Evin prison. He was next transferred to the Rajaaee Shahr prison, later transferred to city of Isfahan prison, and about 40 days ago, again transferred to the Rejaayee Shahr prison.
Even though Mr. Kheirollahi is spending his 3rd year in prison, there are no official court decisions or verdicts and his case is unattended and undecided.
It must be noted that during the last 6 months, 2 Iranain political prisoners, Akbar Mohammadi and Valiollah Feiz Mahdavi have lost their lives as a result of hunger strikes.
